Small changes make a huge difference. Here are the off-season and on-snow drills that helped me gain control, speed, and style.
Improving my snowboarding didn't happen by accident. It took intentional drills—some done in the gym, others on mellow terrain. These are my five go-to techniques that consistently sharpen my control and confidence on the mountain.
Single-Leg Balance Drills: Building ankle strength off the mountain translates into smoother, more reactive carving.
Switch Riding Sessions: Riding switch daily forces your body to relearn patterns and improve symmetry.
Cone Slaloms: Practicing tight turns at slower speeds helps you control edge pressure with precision.
Core Activation Before Riding: 5 minutes of planks and bird-dogs improves stability in dynamic movements.
Speed Control Practice: Learning to vary my speed intentionally made me more confident in steep terrain.
Improvement is about intention. Doing these drills weekly helped me feel more grounded—literally and mentally—when pushing limits.
